SiM rolled over!

Sometime at the end of last week, Nov 18ish, he rolled from his back to his stomach! Yay! And, he can sit with two hand anterior support for a few (30 or so) seconds. Way to go, SiM!

Alas, I'm embarrassed. After I read your comment I reread my post and it could've been a session report for early intervention...
Blah. But, I think it's still better than not documenting it, I mean ' mentioning it' in the blog:)

LOL, I recently had a talk with one OT, and according to her everybody could use some therapy. Whatever... So I have been updated on the lingo. Still better to document than not.

I remember my class in the step-mother country- 1/3 of the kids had some sort of l.d., adhd, sensory issues, etc. The teachers yelled at those kids, called them names, and used other similar therapeutic interventions. Kids learned to function with their issues (except for the ones who were failing or near failing). And isn't it what therapy is all about

Please do not take it personally. I myself have been a witness to this in my class. Many kids who weren't dumb couldn't function properly. One definitely had dyslexia (sp?), even the teacher admitted that something was definitely wrong, but it didn't prevent her from putting him down. I still remember the guy's name. Anyhow, this is a bit different. You know, when a kid is doing something different from what is "expected", she predicted that kids who didn't crawl would have problems in HIGH school if they didn't get therapy. I mean she is good and professional, but I think some things are just taken too far. I think it is better to discuss in person (if one desires,or course, no one want to talk shop on their day off), email or comments could be taken off context and offend for no good reason.

This said, you are a wonderful OT, and if I ever needed one (hopefully not), I would definitely go to you!!!

happy thanksgiving.

I don't see anything personal in your comments. Maybe I the comment I wrote had more than one interpretation ( I usually write when I should be sleeping and it often shows). Unlike the OT with whom you spoke, (or like her), I think that most kids at one point or another can 'qualify' for therapy. But many kids outgrow most of the 'qualifiers' for therapy.
Of course there were those like our former classmates who instead of getting therapy were ridiculed and abused. I vividly remember one of my classmates with fetal alcohol syndrome (at the time I wondered why he looked asian) who was perpetually called stupid, slow, etc by the teachers and who just barely passed year after year after year.
